The port is connected to Guadalajara by three highways: Guadalajara-Compostela-Puerto Vallarta Highway, Guadalajara-Autlán-Puerto Vallarta, and by the pilgrim route Guadalajara-Ameca-Talpa/Mascota- Puerto Vallarta.
